Hunters of the taiga have long used specialised hunting dogs to hunt for capercaillie and black grouse. They actively track and hunt individual birds and once a bird has been spotted the dog will bark to identify its location at which point the hunter needs to move in cautiously in order to take a shot. This unique way of hunting using “barking dogs” is common throughout northern Scandinavia. We at Lapland Exclusive are very selective in what dogs and guides are chosen.
Hunting and camping in remote areas of a nature reserve with a personal guide is one of the best experiences to be had of the wilderness.
